DOG ATTACKS IN BUNGADORE PARK
There have been reports of owners letting their dogs off their leads in the park. This has resulted in attacks on people running and jogging through the park. These incidents have been reported to the Council and the ranger is looking into it. Owners need to be reminded that their dogs are required to be kept on leads and under control at all times.
ARMADALE SETTLERS COMMON
NEW APPOINTMENTS
As previously outlined, all Advisory/Management Committees of Council are opened for new appointments following Council elections each two years. Council has made appointments to the Armadale Settlers Common Management Committee and I am pleased to welcome two new members – Jacqui Thomas and David Ward. Both will bring a high degree of enthusiasm and their own expertise to the Committee. Previous members who re-nominated are to continue as very valuable team members. The Committee contains members with a diverse range of skills and we are lucky to have a very balance team.
We do have a couple of vacancies available if anyone wishes to join us. If you are interested in becoming a member, please contact me on telephone 9497 3469
DIEBACK FUNDING
Funding has been acquired to further develop dieback stations in the Settlers Common.
The purpose of the dieback stations is to provide facilities for walkers to brush-down their footwear in order to contain the spread of dieback throughout the reserve. The new funding will provide stations within the eastern portion of the Settlers Common.. It is i
mportant that we all assist in the attempts to contain dieback. All those using the Common are requested to stop for a minute or two, use the seats and brushesprovided and brush down your footwear.
The positive step of cleaning our footwear will have an ongoing impact in reducing the spread of dieback. Please help.
WALK TRAIL FUNDING
Council is to embark on improving access to the eastern portion of the Settlers Common
and Churchman Bushland in the vicinity of Churchman Brook Road. Also, additional
interpretive trails are planned in the Settlers Common. The provision of wheelchair access
is seen as an important part of this project. More information on this project will be
provided when at hand. An existing dieback hygiene station
in Armadale Settlers Common Reserve.

CLEAN UP AUSTRALIA 2008

Come along and help clean up rubbish from our beautiful bush. We need volunteers to help man the two sites and volunteers, (even if it is just for an hour), to collect rubbish. Bags will be provided and we will have special container if needles are found.
Children should be accompanied by an adult, and it is advisable to wear boots, gloves, hat and sunscreen.

Bedfordale Volunteer Fire Brigade
Well done to the residents of Bedfordale, we have had a quiet fire season so far in Bedfordale with only 5 small fires, most already controlled by you the residents by the time we arrived. Your vigilence in spotting and reporting these fires have been great. Keep up the good work and with luck we can continue this trend. Only one of these fires had a clear staring point with power lines down in carradine road, the rest were unknown so continue your vigilence.

We never send both of our vehicles to these fires, we always have one ready to go to your help if we have a call in Bedfordale. Main Roads WA‘s confidence that the traffic lights would be finished before Christmas 2007 was misplaced. As of mid January I have been unable to ascertain when we can expect this project to be completed...

The series of Concerts in the Park commence at Minnawarra Park from the 3rd of February at 6.00pm. Why not bring along a fold-up chair or a blanket and sit on the lawn with a picnic and enjoy the free concert with your family and friends. The Rushton Park venue will also be used for the concerts that will run through February and early March. Watch the local newspapers for further details or contact the City on 9399 0111.
